Bodywork is a term used to describe any therapeutic technique that involves working with the human body in a form involving manipulative therapy, breath work, or energy therapy. Bodywork techniques also aim to assess or improve posture, to promote awareness of how mental processes can affect the physical state, and to manipulate a putative “energy field” surrounding the human body and affecting health.
There are hundreds of bodywork methods, including various forms of massage, acupressure, Reflexology, Reiki, and Healing Touch, just to name a few. All techniques share similar health goals and benefits, such as reducing aches and pains, improving physical functioning, relieving stress, anxiety, tension, and depression, and enhancing recovery from surgery and illness.
Energy work is a specific form of bodywork that is based on the knowledge that the body is filled with, and surrounded by, energy fields that can be manipulated. By working with these energy fields, practitioners can help restore and balance energy for their clients, addressing specific medical conditions, in addition to easing emotional distress. Energy therapy clears, balances, and charges the entire physical and energetic being with positive healing energy. It also restores a sense of deep peace and wellbeing.
We specialize in several modalities of Bodywork — Therapeutic Massage, Thermal Massage Bed, and Reiki.
Therapeutic Massage is a healing tool that has been practiced for thousands of years. Over the millennia, a wide range of massage styles have been developed, each varying in pressure, movement, and technique. Today, more than 80 massage styles are practiced by healers and therapists around the world. But don’t be deterred by the differences in the varying massage techniques. Studies are showing that therapeutic massage, in many varying forms, has numerous benefits for your health. Therapeutic massage is now being recognized for more than simply relaxing your body and mind.
Experts estimate that 80-90% of all disease is related to, and exacerbated by, stress. On the bright side, a growing body of scientific evidence shows that therapeutic massage therapy can be effective for a wide variety of health conditions. Whether treating chronic diseases and injuries or alleviating tensions of our modern lifestyles, the physical changes massage brings to your body can have profound positive effects. Therapeutic massage not only decreases anxiety and promotes relaxation, but helps lower blood pressure and increase circulation. Therapeutic massage also helps improve recovery time from injury, reduces fatigue, increases concentration and energy, and improves sleep. The physical changes massage has on the body also can result in positive effects in many areas of your life — mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Our licensed massage therapists are trained in various massage techniques, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Reflexology, Thai, and many more. However, our licensed therapists work with you to custom tailor the massage to your special needs and goals. Whether you are looking for relief from certain symptoms or health conditions, to heal injuries, or to simply relax and destress, our therapeutic massage can meet your health needs and promote an overall wellness.
The Thermal Massage Bed represents the fusion of massage, chiropractic theory, and acupressure effect with far-infrared heat therapy (moxibustion) to boost your body’s natural ability for healing. The Thermal Massage Bed is an FDA-approved mechanical traction device, gently stretching and straightening the spine, and allowing your entire body to function more efficiently. Let the embedded jade stones of the Thermal Massage System work their magic during the 40 minute massage session, occasionally stopping along acupressure points to give you a deep tissue release. Meanwhile, the infrared heat therapy will soothe your muscles and soft tissues and helps reduce inflammation.
The Thermal Massage Bed is an excellent option for massage when your schedule doesn’t allow for a traditional therapeutic massage. The Thermal Massage System can be done fully clothed and without the use of oils, making it the perfect massage on your lunch hour, between meetings, after work before heading to dinner with family or friends, or anytime when you need the healing powers of massage.
Reiki is a holistic, non-invasive form of energy therapy first developed in Japan in the early 1900s. Reiki has since been adapted into cultural traditions around the world. The word Reiki combines two Japanese words — “Rei” meaning “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and “Ki” meaning “life force energy.” Thus, Reiki translates to “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki practitioners use their hands (with light or no touch) in an intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. Reiki sessions stimulate the body’s innate wisdom for healing to reduce stress, relieve pain and tension, and bring the energy system back into balance. Reiki clears, balances, and charges the entire physical and energetic being with positive healing energy. It also restores a sense of deep peace and wellbeing.

People of most any age are welcome to experience the benefits of thermal massage. Fully clothed (except for your belt and shoes), one simply lies down on the bed and lets the heated jade massage heads roll underneath the entire length of the body. Treatments last about 35-40 minutes and cover a range of goals, from pure relaxation and meditation to intense therapeutic relief.
It is normal to experience mild soreness after a treatment, especially if you are new to body work. This will dissipate in a short time, especially with repeated use. At anytime, you may add extra cushion until your body gets use to the movement and pressure.
Like other highly developed fitness techniques, thermal massage focuses on the core of the body. It is very common to feel intense pressure and even soreness in the lower back during and following the first few sessions of thermal massage. The tailbone may feel tender, inflamed or even bruised. This is a healing reaction and indication that the body is trying to heal the lower back. The thermal massage bed works the lower back to soften connective tissue and detoxify this crucial area for maximum flexibility and health of the entire spine. The thermal massage bed’s jade massage heads work the connective tissue until the calcified material is broken down and flushed out of the body.
You should avoid using the thermal massage bed system if you are pregnant or if you have a pacemaker. Also, people with severe osteoporosis, or steel rods/pins should consult with a physician or other trusted healthcare provider to determine if thermal massage is appropriate.
Because thermal massage is a detoxifying treatment, we encourage you to drink plenty of water to ensure that all the toxins released during your treatment will be flushed from the body.
